- ABOUT -

Some of my fondest childhood memories were times spent with my grandma ‘Bert’ while she baked her delicious caramel rolls and wonderful pies.  I watched with curious delight as she mixed her special ingredients to make the best baked goods.   When I asked about her recipes she responded with a twinkle in her eye, “Oh just one eggshell of this, and a couple of eggshells of that.”  The small town Montana residents marveled at the desserts she made in the local diner.

I have carried those memories with me and remember how much joy I can bring to others through the foods I create.   When family and friends respond with joyful faces and closed eyes after tasting my sweets I know I have made the right decision to follow in grandma ‘Bert’s’ footsteps with my candy making.  I have often brought my homemade caramels to my son’s elementary school for holidays or special occasions and students, staff and parents all clamber to get to the front of the line before the caramels run out – I have seen the adults sneak extras into their pockets to eat later.  Now that my son is in high school, the kids (and staff) still want him to bring caramels for the holidays - and any other day, to school.

With encouragement and support from family and friends I decided to try my luck selling my caramels at a local high school craft fair.  To my surprise I sold out of my 1,300 assorted flavored caramels shortly after lunch, with many orders placed for more. I am overjoyed by the response to my caramels and decided to take a shot at the American Dream by starting my own business - Mama Mac’s Caramels.  I hope you enjoy eating my caramels as much as I enjoy making them.  Order enough caramels to be the star at your next big gathering, give them as gifts to delight candy lovers of any age, or order them for your own sweet indulgence. I appreciate your support and welcome your feedback.  Enjoy!
